The AKA Team, along with Independence Construction, is the construction manager on the West Side Market construction project.

PROJECT SCHEDULE: Construction has begun and is expected to be completed by 2027

West Side Market in Cleveland — a beloved public market since 1912 — is undergoing its most ambitious renovation to date: a multi‑phase, roughly $68 million modernization that will preserve its historic character while upgrading its infrastructure and amenities:

PHASE 1 (~$50M) begins summer 2025 with the East Arcade, renovating the produce hall with HVAC systems, new vendor stalls, improved electrical/plumbing, and direct basement access. In addition, the 29,500 sq ft basement overhaul will include new walk‑in coolers and updated food storage, a shared commercial kitchen, a freight elevator, and upgrades to mechanical, HVAC and electrical systems.

PHASE 2 will reimagine the North Arcade as a prepared‑food hall with local vendors, bars, and seating; add a teaching kitchen, community/event space on the mezzanine; and convert the alley into a courtyard with outdoor seating and space for programming.
